Healthcare Assistant Recruitment
nursing

A Healthcare Assistant (also known as an Auxiliary Nurse) assists professionals in providing care to patients in hospitals or other medical settings, and they interact closely with patients to aid in their rehabilitation and safety.

An abroad qualified dentist who holds a dental qualification from a university recognised by UK ENIC for the purposes of temporary registration and the overseas registration examination (ORE) can apply for temporary registration in particular approved roles.

Temporary registration is issued for a minimum of 84 days and a maximum of 365 days at a time, and it can be renewed by application for up to 1826 days (5 years).

Qualifications

Because there is substantial on-the-job training and supervision for healthcare assistants, applicants with a wide range of degrees and qualifications are accepted. Applicants may have an advantage if they have any of the following:

  • Care Certificate (may be obtained through a HEE – Health Education England certified training organisation in the UK)
  • Diploma in Health and Social Care
  • GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) grades 9–4 (A*–C) or similar qualifications.

Work experience

To qualify for a tier 2 visa (Health and Care Worker visa) applicants must have experience working in health or social care jobs (such as social work or nursing).

English Proficiency:

You have to prove that you can read, write, speak, and understand English at the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) level B1. You may show your command of the English language by:

  • Passing a Secure English Language Test (SELT) administered by an authorised provider
  • having a GCSE, A level, Scottish National Qualification level 4 or 5, Scottish Higher or Advanced Higher in English, obtained through study at a UK school when you were under the age of 18
  • Having a degree-level academic qualification taught in English – If you studied overseas, you must apply to Ecctis (previously UK NARIC) for confirmation that your qualification is comparable to a UK bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree.

Points-based immigration system:

The Home Office (of which UKVI is a part) is in charge of regulating how people from outside the EEA can work, train, or study in the UK.

A new points-based immigration system went into effect in January 2021, with components of it already in place by the end of 2020. If they match the eligibility conditions, the system allows both EEA and non-EEA nationals to work, train, or study in the UK.

The previous tiered structure has been mostly superseded by this points-based approach. Except for those from the Republic of Ireland and anyone who were already in the UK on December 31, 2020, it applies to everyone from outside the UK who aspires to live and work here.

A Tier 2 Health and Care Worker visa allows health and care workers to travel to or stay in the UK to work for the NHS, an NHS supplier, or in adult social care.

Applications are evaluated using a point system designed to admit only individuals whose skills would benefit the UK. The number of points required and how they are awarded vary depending on the category in which individuals apply, but they must reflect:

  • A Job offer
  • Skill level
  • Language Competence
  • Qualifications
  • Other Criteria

Biometric Residence Permits

A biometric residence permit (BRP) is a card issued to foreign nationals that contains your biographic facts (name, date, and place of birth), ‘biometric information’ (fingerprints and digital facial image), and specifies your immigration status and entitlements while in the UK.

When an individual applies for a visa or immigration, they are automatically issued a BRP. In passports, a 30-day sticker or vignette is issued, enabling adequate time to go to the UK. You will have ten days after your arrival to collect your BRP from a post office branch, as specified in your decision letter.

Verification of identity checks is used in the NHS as part of the recruitment process to ensure that an identity is real and belongs to the person presenting it.

BRP cards can be used to verify identity and complete this check.
